The Liebster Award

[The Liebster Award is given from bloggers to bloggers and is all about celebrating new blogs and spreading the blog love. If you are nominated and choose to accept the award, the rules are below. ]

I was very privileged and very lucky to have Falling Down the Rabbit Hole picked me to do this challenge, tag, thing. So thank you so much!! And here are the rules!

Firstly the 11 Random Facts (a great way to get to know me! Although, random is a little hard to think about):

1. I am currently studying Japanese in Japan for my year abroad which runs September 2013 to August 2014 (almost the end! =[).

2. I used to write Supernatural fanfiction with my two best friends when we were in High School (which is ages 11 – 16 in the UK!).

3. I am obsessed with and have seen almost 200 Japanese dramas (TV shows/doramas) and films (that’s almost 400!).

4. I have cosplayed in the past: Hermione Granger, Yuki from Vampire Knight, Vanille from Final Fantasy XII, Matt from Death Note (all I can think of right now).

5. I actually haven’t read of a lot books (in comparison to most book lovers).

6. I have never travelled to the western part of the earth (with West going from England to Hawaii).

7. I can actually cook but say I can’t so my boyfriend always cooks when we’re together.

8. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and have been since the first film came out.

9. I lucid dream more than normal dream (and it rocks!).

10. I hope to work in TV/Film in the future.

11. I attempted to teach myself piano when I was like 12 – 15 – I can’t remember any of it now! =/

Now for the Given Questions:

1. What is the #1 place you would love to visit (real or fictional or both)?

Fictional is an option so Hogwarts! But if we’re not going fictional then the #1 place I would love to visit (but have no yet been to) would be…. *thinks for a long time* Italy!

2. How many books are on your TBR list?

O jesus, 170 =/ But there’ll be more as a few Kindle Buys have been like ‘5 books in one for ___’.

3. Whats the most exciting thing you are looking forward to in the next few months?

Going and seeing my favourite band live in July! =] Defo not looking forward to going home in August xD

4. What is your favorite book to movie adaptation?

I never really pay attention as I tend to see the film before I read the book =/ The Lord of the Rings?

5. What is your favorite mythical creature?

6. If you had to be a vampire from which world/type of vampire would you want to be?

O god Twilight all the way! Totally joking (I stopped reading that book after like 3 pages =/). It would be either from Anne Rice’s Vampire world or the True Blood (though I haven’t read the books for TB =/) world.

7. What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Pistachio! It’s an oldie but a goodie.

8. Do you have any pets? If yes what kind?

Nopers. But I’ve owned 2 cats, a dog, a hamster, a billion fish (not all at once of course).

9. What is your dream occupation? (It can be what you are doing right now if you so desire)

O dang, already mentioned this above kinda xD But what I really want? To own my own Entertainment Company in Japan and/or be a major Director/Editor in Japan/Asia.

10. How did you come about starting your blog?

Booktube is too difficult for me to do (I have crappy editing software for a start) but I still wanted to talk about books and stuff so I stared a blog =]

11. If you were stranded on a deserted island and had to survive who would be the one person you picked to be there with? (can be real/fictional)

ARAGORN!! He can do everything, right? xD

Thank you for those questions!! =]

3. All-Time Book Character Crush?

June 2014 Releases!!

*Archetype is already out according to GoodReads so why it has a June release I have no idea! Maybe because they changed the covers? No idea.

Any here that you’re looking forward to? Any that you want that I haven’t mentioned? Let me know below! =]

Top 10 Tuesday #6

This Week’s Topic: Top Ten Tuesday Freebie! (AKA. Pick your own topic!)

So, I pick ‘Top Ten Favourite Books’. I’ve been on here for over a month and I feel that you guys don’t know the basics about me; one being my currently all-time favourite books. Sound good? I think I’ll do them in no ranked order because that would just be too hard! (And they have all received 5 stars from me on GoodReads!)

1. This is my all-time favourite Harry Potter book! I just remember loving it so much!! (Now I need to re-read it…) I also loved the movie when it came out too although the 3rd Movie still holds first place for me xD

2. Now I am going to be honest; took me while just now to remember what happened in this book. This is the third book and is my favourite Percy Jackson book! It was so twisty and action packed and new characters and now story lines etc. Loved it!

3. I remember exactly where I was when I read about; Dobby, The Battle at Hogwarts and the Ending! And I cried after I finished it. Such an amazing book and end to a series. I don’t think I’ve met one person that didn’t like the ending of this series. Any takers?

4-6. I can’t pick an ultimate favourite between these books! And they all got 5/5 Stars from me!! Each one is epic and beautiful and amazing! Are you able to pick a favourite? I think I’d have to re-read them to settle on a definite favourite – not compaining at having to re-read them though! Let’s hope they don’t take me like 4 years to read them this time though xD

7. I only just read this book last summer and it shot straight into my top 10! It’s probably (even still now) at the number one spot (even though The Hobbit wins all-time from far far ago favourite!) I cannot express how amazing and interesting and non-stop this book is! I loved the plot, the characters, the characters story lines, the twists etc! And I cannot wait to get back to England and get around to reading the other two books (well three)!

8. This book was massively epic and again, a great end to another well-loved series! I vividly remember the battle in this one too!

9. When I was between 7 and probably 11, I read this book every year at least once a year and re-read it again for the first time in 10 years this year! I love this book and as I was much older this time around I got a lot more out of it! So fun, epic, amazing, the adventure is awesome! The struggles are interesting! The characters are all amazing! As said before, it’s my all-time favourite from long long ago book! I think it will always have 1st place along with my ‘current’ favourite first place.

10. How could this not be here! It’s where all the magic (and my serious reading journey) began! I’ve read it so many times and I just love the nostalgia and fuzzy feeling it gives me every time I read it! =] Also, my book smells amazing! xD

Like what I’ve put? Do some of these make your list? Tell me some of your favourites! =]

Same Time, Next Week!

Same Time, Next Week!

May 23rd 2014 #FridayReads!

It’s been over two weeks since I’ve made one of these but there was no point last week as it was Bout of Books 10 so my reading list was obvious. So here I am to tell you what I plan to read today, this weekend and this up coming week.

Firstly, this upcoming week will be the week before my Mid Term exams so my reading time will be (somehow) cut down even more, so I have decided I will only focus on one book this is next week and that is:

I am currently 54% through so hopefully I can make that last 46% home stretch during the next week or so! Also, I feel really bad. This was given to me by Net Galley in hopes that I’d read and review it before it came out. This book came out May 6th and I’m still reading it almost 20 days later =/ I’m sorry Net Galley! But you will get your review eventually (maybe a month late =/).

So yes, this is all I plan (and will probably only get through) to read during the next week.

What is everyone else’s Friday Reads? Also, have a great and safe weekend!

The Chocolate Book Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Amanda’s Nose in a Book (post here)! Let’s start shall we?

Dark Chocolate: A book that covers a dark topic. (abuse, domestic violence, rape, loneliness, bullying, death etc):

It turns out I have a lot of books that have these themes now and again (for example: (spoiler?) Perks of Being a Wallflower and Norwegian Wood etc. Hell I guess even the manga Death Note could be put here too with it’s main theme being about a book that can kill people and it does; thousands!) But a book that I think has one or more of these theme predominantly in the book is:

I guess this is cheating as it’s a play but it’s very much about Hamlet and his depression and worry over existentialism. There is also a suicide. Overall it’s a dark but beautiful piece of art. If you want me to actual pick a book (that I’ve read) then I’d go for:

Having a child murdered and then seeing her family suffer through it and also the constant tension of ‘Will the murderer finally get caught? Will there be justice?’ makes this book rather dark.

Honourable Mention:

Image It is a graphic novel and very messed up but entertaining at the same time! But not for the faint hearted!

White Chocolate: Your favorite light hearted/humorous read:

Trying to think of books that actual made me laugh out loud is hard… but lighthearted? I think I can find a book for that!

It’s cute, it’s funny, it’s romantic! And while it might be a tough read for me, I found it delightful. Especially when I re-read it this year (I thought I’d made a review of it on here, turns out I didn’t o_O want one?), I was actually genuinely amused by some of the humour in this book. All-round, a lovely novel.

Milk Chocolate: A Book that Has a Lot of Hype that You’re Dying to Read

Now if you know me (which I assume you all do by now, if you don’t I don’t mind making a discussion post about it) I do not get on well with hyped books, particularly those on BookTube (we just don’t seem to work). But there are a few books (thanks to various blogs and a great honourable mention to the Sword & Laser bookclub) that have hype or high praise here and there and I cannot wait to get back to England and being able to buy it and devour it immediately! But I shall only pick one, of course, for now.

It’s a kinda oldie but I’ve not seen one bad review and it’s a loved book amongst a lot of people and this was one of the first ‘influenced by the internet’ books that I decided I wanted to buy. And I will get to it! And I’m still very excited to read it – even though it hit my radar over a year ago.

Chocolate With a Caramel Center: Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while you were reading it

I don’t tend to read romantic books so this one will be a hard one (or a cheat one)…

It’s a manga aimed at girls so naturally it’s all romantic and the characters are sweet and the angst and happy ending etc. So yeah, I felt ‘gooey’ at times xD Told you I’d have to cheat! I honestly have no books that have made me gooey, and if I have (maybe Harry Potter or the last His Dark Materials book but) I haven’t read them in so long that I can’t remember my feelings that took place when I read them.

Water Free Kit Kat: Name a Book That Surprised You Lately

Well I haven’t read many books (that I’ve finished) lately now have I? xP

This was a surprise for me for two reasons: 1. It was my first every short story collection book and 2. It reminded me that I do like Sci-Fi (I have this weird thing where I love Sci-Fi TV/Films but because I haven’t read nearly as many SF books, that I’m unsure of SF in books for me). But it also surprised me in that it made me realise that Fantasy is definitely my number one genre with SF making second (most likely).

Snickers: A Book That You Are Going Nuts About

Now I realise I’m still reading this book (and haven’t read a page of it in months but shh!) but this is such an amazing read! You get totally sucked in and it’s epic and yes it’s a big book but boy does it fly by! I freaking love it! AND it’s TV series ❤

Hot Chocolate With Cream and Marshmallows: What Book Would You Turn to for a Comforting Read?

I wish I had Hot Choc with cream and marshmallows right now….

It’s just so easy for me to open up this book and start reading it ❤

Box of Chocolates: What series have you read that you feel has a wide variety and a little something for everyone?

I’m going to try and not pick the obvious Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. (This is gunna be hard – I haven’t read many series!)

This trilogy! I read it as a child which means kids and adults can read it. It’s got action, adventure, friendship, romance, sometimes tough matters like saying goodbye to friends and such. It’s a fun read also which is important! I haven’t heard anyone besides my little sister (who I recommended it to) and my friend who have read this. So I recommend to all! Also, I need to re-read this trilogy…

I Tag:

Another Afterthought

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

YA? Why Not?

Sorry if you’ve already done this tag xD If you have let me know!

Waiting on Wednesday #3

The translation of Beowulf by J.R.R. Tolkien was an early work, very distinctive in its mode, completed in 1926: he returned to it later to make hasty corrections, but seems never to have considered its publication.

Release Date: May 22nd.

Well this week was an easy pick! I will buy and read anything with ‘J.R.R.Tolkien”s name slapped on (even if the work has been carried on by his son and I know quite a few people who don’t like what Christopher has done/editing with his father’s work).

Comes out tomorrow! And I’m quite sure you all know the story of Beowulf. No, you don’t? They pick up this copy tomorrow! ^_^

Top 5 Wednesday #4

This Week’s Topic: Top Books You Devoured << I’m gunna take this as: books I read super fast or in one sitting. I kinda cheat so heads-up; sorry!

1. When ever I re-read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, I do it within one day. It’s just so amazing and such an awesome read!

2. I took the omnibus of this trilogy with me away on holiday one year. I think it’s over 1000 pages together and I remember reading it within like two 7hour reading sittings or at the least seriously fast!

3. I remember getting this book and just sitting and reading and doing nothing else until it was done and I got through it rather fast. I also remember where I was sitting and what kind of day it was as I read through the battle of Hogwarts and to it’s end.

4. This includes the entire series; they’re just so fun and fast paced and interesting that I easily read one within a day and so got through this series pretty fast! ❤

5. Read both of these within a few hours; so easy to read, entertaining and nothing too difficult to slow your reading down! Haven’t gotten my hands on The One yet =[

Same Time, Next Week!

Top 10 Tuesday #5

Wow! I cannot believe I have been doing this for over a month! And I cannot believe I’ve been consecutive for over a month with my posts!

This Week’s Topic: Ten Books About Friendship << Now this one is difficult for me as I haven’t actually read (m)any books with the main theme of ‘friendship’ really, so I almost did not do it! But, I have decided that I will make a list of 10 books about friendship that I would like to read (that appear to me to have the theme of friendship at least – but feel free to correct me if I am wrong!) and then make an ‘Honourable’ section for books which I have read that have friendship in (there’s 5 books). Here we go!

Top 10 Books (that appear to me to be) about Friendship that I want to Read! WAY too long of a title xD

1. Isn’t this suppose to be like the ultimate Friendship book? xD

2. All I know about this book is that it’s suppose to be amazing and I think I heard it was about two males who were best friends when they were younger and on went on to be successful and have an amazing life while the other either got a bad one and/or died and now the successful one has gone searching for him, and a Kite (which is what they bonded over?)? – but I actually have no idea what it’s about. This is stuff I was told years and year ago xD

3. I’ve technically read half of this when I was in high school but cannot remember it at all. I assume it’s about friendship (besides digging holes) because it’s a bunch of delinquent young boys working together, right? I’ve just noticed that there’s half a head on that cover.. I’ve seen this cover time and time again and only just noticed that?! o_O

4. Two girls write notes together using fans? Also, it’s based in China! =]

5. Isn’t this an automatic ‘must read’?

6. Something to do with a best friend dying from an eating disorder?

7. If the book is anything like ‘The Three Musketeers’ movies I’ve seen, then this is a definite friendship book!

8. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this, but also heard it’s about friendship. And that cover!

9. Two best friends and their secret? I think it has something to do with drug dealing also which intrigues me. Not that I do drugs, because I don’t! Just putting it out there!

10. A graphic novel I believe and just look at that cover; pretty and features two people that appear to be friends, see my thought process? xD

Honourable Mentions AKA. Books I Have read that have Friendship in!

1. Well this one was obvious. J.K.Rowling taught us a range of things and lessons with these books; love, good, evil and of course friendship!

2. This story would have been doomed if it hadn’t have been for friends and their power, no matter how far away they were. And look! The first book even says ‘Fellowship’ AKA Friendship! ❤

3. O this book. An amazing friendship, an amazing land, amazing story but damn you better have those tissues at the ready! (When I went to see the film, I started crying way before the actual sad events took place! Now that’s a strong book if it can make me do that during the film!)

4. Because Percy Jackson- I mean Charlie – needed Hermione Granger’s – I mean Sam’s! – and her marital brother’s help and friendship in order to overcome and gain confidence and find out who he was/is.

5. This was just so cute! Such a beautiful friendship between the pig and Charlotte ❤ I need to re-read this book…

And that’s all I have folks!

What books made your list? Do you have other friendship books that were better that your recommend?

Same Time, Next Week!
