This Week’s Theme:Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For the Rest of 2015. This will be exciting to post as I start work next month which means I’ll start having money to be able to buy stuff and that’ll include books- and new books!!! ^_^ Let’s get started!! There may be more than 10? xD So all these books are released from July to December.

Time Salvager

7th July – Convicted criminal James Griffin-Mars is no one’s hero. In his time, Earth is a toxic, abandoned world and humans have fled into the outer solar system to survive, eking out a fragile, doomed existence among the other planets and their moons. Those responsible for delaying humanity’s demise believe time travel holds the key, and they have identified James, troubled though he is, as one of a select and expendable few ideally suited for the most dangerous job in history.

14th July – Zack Lightman has spent his life dreaming. Dreaming that the real world could be a little more like the countless science-fiction books, movies, and videogames he’s spent his life consuming. Dreaming that one day, some fantastic, world-altering event will shatter the monotony of his humdrum existence and whisk him off on some grand space-faring adventure. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little escapism, right? After all, Zack tells himself, he knows the difference between fantasy and reality. He knows that here in the real world, aimless teenage gamers with anger issues don’t get chosen to save the universe. And then he sees the flying saucer.

The Dinosaur Lords (The Dinosaur Lords, #1)

28th JulyPlunged into Victor Milán’s splendidly weird world of The Dinosaur Lords, a place that for all purposes mirrors 14th century Europe with its dynastic rivalries, religious wars, and byzantine politics…and the weapons of choice are dinosaurs.

Fans of the Impossible Life

8th September – This is the story of a girl, her gay best friend, and the boy in love with both of them.

The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1)

6th October – Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

6th October – Livia is a dreamstrider. She can inhabit a subject’s body while they are sleeping and, for a short time, move around in their skin. She uses her talent to work as a spy for the Barstadt Empire.

A Thousand Nights

6th October – Lo-Melkhiin killed three hundred girls before he came to her village, looking for a wife. When she sees the dust cloud on the horizon, she knows he has arrived. She knows he will want the loveliest girl: her sister. She vows she will not let her be next. And so she is taken in her sister’s place, and she believes death will soon follow. She sees everything as if for the last time. But the first sun rises and sets, and she is not dead.

Black Wolves (The Black Wolves Trilogy, #1)

3rd November – As broken alliances are guardedly rekindled and old friendships put to the test, the Hundred’s past is called into question and its very future is at stake.

Top Ten Tuesday #38

Almost forgot to do this today due to revision stress! xD

This week’s theme: Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet – I’m gunna include dead authors too! ❤

1. J.R.R. Tolkien – because we ALL didn’t see this one coming? The man. The legend. I would just want to have a cup of tea with him and just let him talk for hours and hours about his life, his books, the lore of middle earth and just suck it all up!

The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)

2. Terry Pratchett – I wasn’t a big fan because I’d only sadly read 5 of the books when he passed but I’d love to at least have the chance to meet him and be able to say ‘I really like your books! And they make me laugh and they’re so imaginative and fun!’

The Colour of Magic (Discworld, #1)

3. Brandon Sanderson – Another legend ❤ Basically just want to have a cup of tea with him and thank him for his vaste imagination, how Mistborn blew my mind, apologise for not reading any more of his stuff currently, and tell him I love his writing teaching videos and how much they’ve helped me and just discuss world building and everything with him! Also get his signature (same with everyone really xD)

Mistborn: The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)

4.  Shakespeare – There’s so much speculation about this man (or women) and his lifestyle, so I’d love to meet him and talk to him and just get like the load down and everything in his life!

Much Ado About Nothing

5. Ohba Tsugumi – the GENIUS who invented Death Note ❤ Would love to just interview him and get inside his head and learn how exactly he came up with such an amazing idea! The manga was genius so he must have a high IQ too!

Death Note, Vol. 6: Give-and-Take (Death Note, #6)

6. Rick Riordan – Just want to thank him for writing Middle Grade books that actually appeal to everyone! I think it’s amazing if an author can do that (Rowling did it too) and wanna just talk about Egyptian and Greek mythology with him all day!

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

7. Virginia Bergin – She is the first author to actually write a YA book and have me like/love it! So I’d thank her for that and just chat about The Rain and upcoming books etc.

The Rain (The Rain, #1)

8. Peter. K. Smith – Without this man, my dissertation would have been DOOMED! So I would meet him and thank him for being a researcher in bullying and anti-bullying cos all his research and books have saved my ass!

Understanding School Bullying: Its Nature and Prevention Strategies

9. Lemony Snicket – Because he had more of an impact on my reading life than Harry Potter did (IKR! shocker!) and just thank him for the many books and adventures and aslo ask what the fuck happened in that final book cos it confused the hell outta me!

The End (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #13)

I couldn’t think of a definite 10th =[ my reading knowledge and author knowledge is still very small in comparison to others.

This Week’s Theme: Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

Is everybody ready? I am expecting to bash a lot of YA novels… but I will try hard to find some other books in different genres.

1. Everyone seems to love this book and Amy but I’ve never seen her in anything (even Parks & Rec cos it just doesn’t air here in the UK nor is it on netflix) and I just feel that if everyone loves her, no point me reading it cos if I do end up not liking her, bitches are gunna be on my ass xD also, I’m not really a non-ficiton reader anyway. Hate this cover also.

Yes Please

2. Another book everyone raves about and while I was interested in it at first, I discovered the reveal (of what she is) and I really don’t like those types of creatures and have no interest in them and so will never read this book.

The Girl with All the Gifts

3. Didn’t like the first book (seriously bored the crap out of me from the point onwards where she woke up in his house) and I’ve not heard any positives about this book.

The Infinite Sea (The Fifth Wave #2)

4. Beautiful cover but YA generics all over this book.

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)

5. Was never interested in it and when I finally watched a video (full of spoilers) I still felt I wouldn’t be missing anything from reading this. I just don’t do well with hyped books clearly xD

We Were Liars

6. It’s YA, romance, about cancer, predictable ending and (most likely) over hyped = all the things I hate to read.

The Fault in Our Stars

7. When everyone was going on about how amazing this book was, I went on wiki and read the entire plot: It’s not anything amazing. But I assume the way it was written made it amazing? Still, no interest in reading it.

Gone Girl

8. I love my classics, I really do, but because I had to read the prequel to this (Wide Sargasso Sea) and HATED it so much,  I lost all interest in reading this book. Yes it’s by a Bronte and the prequel is by someone still alive now but meh. Also, I don’t seem to do well with classic books written by women as they tend to be about women, marriage, appearance, money and high society (Pride and Prejudice I like but it’s still a pile of shit at the end of the day.)

Jane Eyre

9. YA, overhyped, romance, know the ending, heard nothing but bad reviews on the last book, not worth my time.

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

10. Romance. That’s the main point of this book! And it’s just not for me. Also the episode they released was SO bad. And wasn’t that ONE episode the entirety of book one? That’s bad if ONE episode (It wasn’t even an hour long!) can show a whole 300page+ book worth of info.

Delirium (Delirium, #1)

What’s on your list? Let me know in the comments below! Agree with mine?

Top Ten Tuesday #36

This Week’s Theme: Top Ten ALL TIME Favourite Authors – not gunna lie. Don’t think I’ve even got ten! =/ I mean, I have to find authors that aren’t only autobuys but like find the ones that I personally think are awesome too!

1. J.R.R.Tolkien – the man, the master! What he wrote was so beautiful and so epic at the same time. He’s the reason I’m into fantasy! [pretty sure I read The Hobbit before Harry Potter!] and omg he was just a genius. Granted the reasons and reality behind his stories is heartbreaking but that also is what makes them that much more amazing!

J.R.R. Tolkien

2. Brandon Sanderson – he is a god! His writing is amazing, his stories epic- yes, yes, I’ve only read one of his books (shh!) but I knew even not 200 pages into the books, that this man was gunna do great things in the fantasy genre. And I’ve been proven right so far!

Brandon Sanderson

3. William Shakespeare – This is probably an odd one but I have to admit: I am a huge Shakespeare fan! I love the way he writes and because of the way he writes, the meaning sometimes seem completely different to what is written. He can do humour well, sarcasm well, existentialism.. I just really enjoy his work and need to read more of it!

William Shakespeare

Not gunna lie, that is my list. C.S.Lewis isn’t on there because I was only interested in Narnia not him and his works. Same with JK Rowling; never gunna read anything she brings out that isn’t HP related. Lemoney Snicket: loved his books to death growing up but it’s been years and not read anything of his outside ASOUE. Terry Pratchett isn’t on here because I feel I need to read at least 10 of his books before I can be solid on him; I do love his writing and everything he stood up for etc. but I personally don’t feel I qualify to have him as a fav author just yet.

Same Time, Next Week!

ImageThis Week’s Theme: Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books

Ready for LoTR galore? Because that’s what I’m expecting xD I don’t think any of these need explanations really. It’s either it’s clearly obvious why they’re a favourite (either a famous life or an beautifully written line or both) or because they mean a hell of a lot to me or both! xD

1. A Dance with Dragons – George. R.R. Martin

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.

2. Something Like An Autobiography – Akira Kurosawa

There is nothing that says more about its creator than the work itself.

3. The Hobbit –  J.R.R.Tolkien

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.

4. The Fellowship of the Ring – J.R.R.Tolkien

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

5. The Fellowship of the Ring – J.R.R.Tolkien

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

6. The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson

There’s always another secret.

7. Sourcery – Terry Pratchet

“And what would humans be without love?”
RARE, said Death.

8. The Hobbit – J.R.R.Tolkien

The road goes ever on and on.

9. A Song of Ice and Fire – George. R.R. Tolkien

Winter is coming.

10. The Fellowship of the Ring – J.R.R.Tolkien

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

What do you think? Got any better ones?
